Interview with Valeria Koss

“Svetliy mir “O’Yunost…”

Some things, that seem ordinary for the residents of the “Svetliy mir”, cause real delight for others. For example, the availability of a Neighbourhood centre in each residential complex.

How about doing yoga a couple of minutes from home? Yes, you can do that. Or taking children to various hobby-groups? This is also an option.

Today, we talked with Valeria Koss, curator of the Neighbourhood Centre of the RC “Svetliy mir “O'Yunost...”. She told us how ideas of events come up, and what kind of entertainment the centre offers for children. Read the interview!

Who is involved in organizing events at the Neighbourhood Centre?

The team of the Neighbourhood Centre consists of a curator, community managers, a babysitter in the nursery and SMM-specialist.

How do event ideas come up?

The most favourite way is when one of the neighbours comes up with an idea and is ready to participate in its organization-implementation. So, there are evenings of board games, meetings of mums, flat parties, film evenings and karaoke.

The second way is when some neighbour is an expert in some business and is ready to share their experience with others. This is how master classes and teacher classes appear in the schedule grid.

We always help our neighbours in the implementation: we provide premises, create posters, and promote the event.

We also know that our neighbours love holidays, so we try to please children and parents: September 1, the holiday of autumn horror stories, Mother's Day, New Year, Fair of Masters, Maslenitsa, Children's Day.

One day, a request came from the community of mums: they wanted to entertain the kids.

So, the Puppet and Actor Theatre “MalyshOK” started visiting us.

What can children do at the Neighbourhood Centre?

There are a lot of options:
— football, rhythmic gymnastics, karate, judo, hip-hop, ballet, clay modelling, drawing, robotics;
— according to the membership option of the Neighbourhood Children's Centre, creative workshops, board games competitions and book club meetings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7 p.m.
— a children's room with a babysitter also has creative activities and outdoor games. Toddlers up to three years old come with their mothers, and older children can stay with a babysitter while their parents are in coworking or training.
— during the school holidays, we offer children a great educational and gaming entertainment program “without gadgets”.

Do you have a favourite organized event?

The most favourite? A very difficult question. My team and I put warmth, care, meanings, and a unique mood into every event.
